One night a man was on a Ceilidhe in a neighbours house which was a few fields from his own. When he was coming home he had to pass by an old disused house. When he was coming home one night he saw a light inside in the house. When he saw the light he tiptoed over to the window to see who was in it. When he looked in he saw an old man sitting at a table with a pack of cards before him. When the fellow saw the old man he went in. When the old man saw the fellow going in he beckoned to him to sit down.
Then he sat down and they began to play. The old man was taking all the money from the other fellow. When they were nearly finished playing a card slipped of the table. When the fellow stooped for the card he saw that the old man had cloven feet. When he saw the cloven feet he knew it was the devil he was playing with. When he saw that he fainted. When he did not go home his people started looking for him and found him in the old house numb with cold.
