    The people suffered severely during the time the famine was in Ireland. The people used eat turnips, meal, dandelion and boiled nettles. People were found dead on the roadside and grass in their mouths. The goverment used give meal to the poor people. The hospitals were crowded with people who were found dying on the roadside on account of starvation.
