A few hundred years ago old Kerry farmer was told that he would die the night three kings visited him. Now it came to pass that three kings were passing through the county and one night they were passing the farmers house when they decided to get lodging there that night. Now you may be sure that the farmer was not glad to see them and he told them about the prophesy and they only laughed at him and they put him under a big box while they made merry. A few hours later there came a knock on the door and one of the kings opened it to let in a person with the figure of a young boy and the head of an old man. He went over to the fire and seating himself beside it he began to play very sweet music on a flute. The kings hearing the music fell asleep and when they awoke their midnight visitor was gone and with him was gone the farmer and then they knew that their visitor was a fairy.
