This is an old cure that the old people had for curing corn. Get a large potatoe and put a hole in it. Then get a bit of washing soda and put it into the hole.
After some time the soda would melt and mix with the juice of the potatoe and they would rub that to their corn. - Collector

A crowing hen is seldom seen and the old people had a belief that if you kept one it would mean bad luck. In a certain field there was a tree and the people called it the money-tree because they said that every night there was money in it and the first person to get there after 12 o clock would get the money.
