  1. Some years ago an Englishman came on a visit to Ireland. He stayed for the night in a Dublin hotel.
    On retiring for the night he strictly warned the "Boots" to awaken him at five o'clock, the following morning as he had a long journey to travel and important business to transact.
    On entering his room he found he was to have a black man as a sleeping companion for the night. He did not take any notice of him, but undressed as quickly as possible, and lay down to rest. As soon as his head touched the pillow, he fell fast asleep.
    Judging from his antics on his arrival at the hotel, Paddy the "Boots" came to the conclusion, he would not be much richer in the morning by this man's stay at the hotel, so he decided to play a trick on him.
