    bed, and blackened his face all over.
    Shortly after five o'clock the following morning, Paddy called the visitor.
    On leaving the room, he peeped through the key-hole of the door to watch the effects of his trick.
    The Englishman jumped out of bed, glanced at his watch, and found it was after five o'clock. With great haste he dressed, and to give his toilet the finishing touches he ran to the mirror, and great was his astonishment, to find there before him a black man.
    Right away the vision of what he saw the night before dawned on him. So he exclaimed aloud. "O Paddy you amadán, I told you to call me, and there you called the black man."
    He again retired to rest, and slept soundly for the rest of the morning.
