  1. Marriages usually take place during Shrove, or on Shrove Tuesday. It is very seldom we hear of anyone getting married during Lent.
    People think it is very unlucky to get married on Friday or on Ash Wednesday; the usual days for marriages are Monday, Tuesday and Saturday.
    In olden days match-makers used to go from house to house, but nowadays we do not hear anything about these.
    The bride usually gets some money, or in some cases, the bride has a farm, and the bridegroom goes in to live with her.
    The night before the wedding the bridegroom never stays in the house of the bride. On the day of the wedding all the guests leave the house together, and go to the church. After the ceremony is performed, the bride and bridegroom, and all the wedding guests
