  1. When a cow calves one removes the hair off the udder with a lighting candle which one circles nine times about the udder anti-clockwise while repeating "In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost"
    Then the candle is moved in the same manner over the animals back, while the same words are said.
    A blessed candle is used according to Mr. O'Regan. This custom is still extant
