Long ago there was a man in Eyeries named Partlan. He used be always vexing Máire Ní Mhurchadha. He had a public house in the village. One day Máire was inside in his house and he began vexing her. He said to her that she used go with the fairies so that she would get a glass of whiskey and a good dinner. She did not say anything but walked out the door. When she was going she said to him "I'll let you and away she went.
A few days afterwards he got a cast of whisky and that night when he went to bed, he heard a great noise downstairs as if the cask was leaking away. He jumped out of the bed and went down. He went into the kitchen he did not see any person. Then he went into the shop and no sooner was he inside then he was taken with a kick. A crowd caught him and dragged him out of the shop and into the kitchen. They tried to put him into the fire place. Others tried to drag him out back door and others tried to bring him out the front door. They kept him there till (y) he was worn out and at last they
