  1. One time there was a man living near Drimoleague called Paddy Carthy. One morning he bought a cow at the fair and afterwards his wife sent him with the money to pay for the cow. When he came to the village he went into a public house and spent all of the money in drink. It was said he left the public house between 12 and 3'oclock and that on his way home the fairies beat him with sticks.
