    There is a proverb about the care of the feet.
    "Take care of your feet & you will live long. Wooden clogs were made by Mr Charles Lunn Gowran. He made them in the bog & he sent away for tops to put on them. It was told to us by our Grannies & Grandfathers that Larry Kelly Gowran known as Miserly Larry was eighty two before he wore boots & then he wore wooden Clogs.
    Mr Croak an English man it is said was the first man to set up a shop in Gowran & he made leather boots & shoes.
