    North. His army were arguing among themselves as to which of them should get the land. After some time they agreed on racing to the place. The soldiers had gone some distance when some of them fell out. The race went on until two were left. "Blenner" was one of the two left. Cromwell from the top of the hill watched the race. When Blenner won it Cromwell called out "Blenner has it" and after some time these words formed the name Blennerhasset.
