  1. at about three hundred yards from Ballybeggan castle there is a hole in the ground. This hole is fifteen feet in depth and forty yards in circumference. In it there is a large stone which was supposed to be used by the priest when saying Mass in the Penal Days. On this stone also the marks of the priest's fingers are to be seen.
    A mile from where I live there is a holy well. To this well many people go and pray annually to obtain favours from God. It is said that a priest was saying mass on this spot when the enemy came and shot him and as the people ran many of them were killed. That is the reason the people go and pray there to be cured.
    In Oakpark half a mile from my house there is a field in which a great battle was fought between the Normans and a small body of Irish men. The Normans were coming from Dingle Bay to come to the castle
