   In October the people of this district start putting in their cows. They are left in for the night but are put out in the fields during the day. If the days are too bad they are left in. They are tied in the stable with a chain round their necks to a stake in the wall. When minding cows never let them go near clay banks because they get mad and start rooting up the bank with their heads. No one never lets cows eat grass over a forth because the fairies would hit the cow and the cow would never give milk again. Some people tie two of the cow's legs with a chain so that they will not be able to go away to far. Other people tie a piece of red thread or a red cloth on the cow's tail and they put a horse-nail on it when putting them out in the field so that no one will take the milk from the cow or take the cow.
