    Long ago the people had no bolts in their doors. When building their houses they would place two holes in the walls inside the jambs. A long thick stick about four inches in diameter was placed across in those holes. This stick was called "Maide Eamoinn." No enemy could enter the house unless he would break the door. Wat Rouse of Fiddaun has still the old method for bolting his doors. There was a basket-maker in our district and he made
