  1. Dear Thomas, I am well aware,
    The postard will to you seem "quare",
    But no man can be counted wrong,
    To seek what does to him belong.
    Both you and I had some dealings past,
    In Longford town September last.

    To send the vessel back to me.
    Which was required in Cloncoose,
    For similar and present use.
    It was to reach me without fail,
    In two weks from the time of sale.
    Besides it was my right to get,
    But right or wrong you hold it yet.
    Now if by stealth some person has it.
    I'll try to get it by "gazette".
    The staves are ash, white clean and sound,
    And with good sally hoops well bound.
    Then two big ears surmount the hoops,
    And thick as those of "nincompoops",
    It's broad and firm, short and round,
    And sits quite level on the ground.
