  1. 1. We have a timber churn at home.
    2. It is about three feet in height
    3. It is about seventeen inches in the bottom and 1 foot 9 inches on the top
    4. The sides are round
    5. It is about three years old
    6. When it is about half-full we can know by means of a plug of timber which is half way in the side.
    7. Butter is made once a week in the winter time and twice a week in the sumer time in this churn.
    8. There are three parts in a churn the staves, bottom and hoops. The hoops are made of iron.
My mother does the churning. If any people come in when we are churning they generally take a brash. The reason they take a brash is to put good luck on the churning. It is churned with the hands in this locality and the dash is worked up
