  2. There was a great famine in Ireland about the year 1846 and 1847. The potato crop failed around that time. Then the people had no food to ear and they died with starvation Some died in their houses, others were found dead in fields, and others by ditches. Some were found with grass in their mouths and others with pieces of turnips.
