  1. Long ago in the village of Tynagh nails used to be made by hand for boots and horse shoes. Spinning tops were also made in this district. Wooden pails churns and churn cups were also made, that is upright churns worked by what was called the dash. Long ago there were candles by hand. They were made out of tarrow. Baskets were also made by the hand. They used to get sally rods and have them boiled and peeled for the purpose. At the local forge spades were also made from irons. Spinning wheels were made and used for clothing. thread was also made by the spinning wheel. There was an old man in the district named Tommie Killilea who used to thatch houses around the place. Ropes used to be made from rushes.
