    In olden times the roofs of the houses were thatched with rushes or straw. The rushes were got growing out in the fields. Mud was used instead of lime or cement.
    A bed was kept in the outshot in the kitchen. The chimney was just a hole in the roof to let out the smoke. The windows used to be called “blind windows” because there
