  2. Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, is usually known as Cock Tuesday in this district. If two people are getting married and do not before then they are supposed to let the cock crow on them. It is the last day for getting married before Lent.
    It is also known as pancake night and pancakes are made then.
