    before that day and if the weather got bad that person would be blamed for the bad weather.
    It was and is still an old custom to go around May night and sprinkle Easter water on all the crops. This was done to prevent an evil-doer from bringing the produce of the herd or crops for the coming year.
    It was no an unusual sight years ago to see people running to wells on May morning to have the first drink of the May water. The first person at the well was supposed to have power to take or bring anything he required from his neighbours by evil means during that month.
