  1. The cure for a toothache was to make a frog screech three times in your mouth.
    An old cure for a cut in your hand is to rub a cobweb to it that it would stop the blood and cure it.
    The cure for warts is to rub a snail to it and then to stick the snail on a black-thorn bush.
    Another old cure was to prevent sickness to eat nettles three times in May.
    To cure chilblains is to rub your fasting spit on to them. It was said that it would cure them.
    If a person suffered from a headache it was considered a great cure to dip his or her head in cold water.
    If a person had a bad cough a good glass of whiskey was supposed to cure it and this cure is kept up to the present day.
    When a young child got the Whooping Cough it was an old custom to put him or her backwards
