    him up in it. Twas no time till the whole place was black with people and all the soldiers in the barracks. They searched the whole place and even went into the field, but they never got Hayes. He lived for many years after but was never caught. He was most of the time at home but he was on his peeping all the time. When he died he was buried in Doon. Do you know how they brought his body in the graveyard? In a load of turf!
    The people had no great love for Dan Moore either. He was a rail worker and a landlord's man. People were very exact those days. I remember when they were trying to make a match for one of Dan's sons, the girl wouldn't love him because of his connection with the landlords.
