  1. The first people known to us in Ireland at the time when all implements were made of stone, were a race of brave people going from place to place in their small boats, (clinging) staying near the shore where food was more plentiful than in the waste land in the country which was covered with snow and ice. There people were small, from five feet to five feet seven inches in height.
