  1. The folklore on pages 119 to 127 was taken down by Eileen O Loughlin form her Granny Mrs Brennan aged 75,retired Principal of Knockaroo N,S Borris in Ossory.
    Signs of good weather;
    1; When the cat turns her back to the fire and purrs and washes her face.
    2; When the mountains look near.
    3; When the smoke turns down.
    4; When the mountains are clouded.
    5; When a frog has a dark colour.
    6;A rainbow in the sky in the morning.
    7; When the crane is going to the bog.
    8; When a frog comes into the house.
    If a person lives near a river and a frog comes in it is a sign that the river is going to overflow.
