    The sason maids look witching fair.
    In costly robes so fine
    With flowing locks of flaxen hair
    And lips like ruby wine
    But there's a lass in Erin's Isle
    More beautiful to see
    Of modest mien and simple style
    That's Maureen Oge Machree.
    She sings the grand old Irish songs.
    Pride of a by gone age
    And sighs o'er Erin's cruel wrongs
    That darken history's page
    She grieves for Tara's Harp
    And wishes it was free
    She loves and speaks the Gaelic tongue
    Does Maureen Oge Machree.
