- There are the ruins of an old chapel in this village of Aughagower, parish of Aughagower county of Mayo. It is in the graveyard beside the present chapel of Aughagower. The old chapel was built by Saint Patrick. It is about fifteen hundred years. During the time Saint Patrick was building there were no horses but goats. Saint Patrick got one of the goats to draw the stones for the building. When Saint Patrick had finished with the goat he said Acad Gabair and the village is still called Achadh Gabaur. There is also the - of a Round Tower. It was built by the monks the time the Danes were(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
