Often about day-light men used to go out digging. They would be there digging until half eight in the morning or nine o'clock and then they would be called to their breakfast. A hundred years ago or so if a man was digging far away from his house and if he got hungry he would make a fire and roast some potatoes that he would be digging and then he would peel them with his fingers and eat them then. Many used to do this when they would be digging potatoes far away from the house.
