    go on the ditches.
When it was a making they cut one of the ditches away to widen it into a road. Where the old lane was they hand paved it and where the ditch was they put broad flat slatish stones called flags. Over this gravel was put feet deep.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
  2. The name of the old road is Ralaghan lane.
It branches off the road going from Dernakesh school to Shercock near Mr Heary's house and goes out at McBreen's of Ralaghan.
It was made in the famine times as relief.
It is still used but is very narrow in some places and the bushes are growing in also.
The men that made it had threepence a day and had to feed themselves.
Before bridges were built in this district there was an old kesh across the Ralaghan river. Later it was replaced by a wooden bridge and later still by a concrete one.
