    On easter sunday the local people vie with each other as to the number of eggs they can eat.
    On Xmas eve the blood of the Xmas goose is boiled with bread crumbs and eaten for the dinner.
    On Shrove Tuesday, pancakes are made and eaten for the supper. This night is called “Pancake Night”
    On good friday [?] to 1914, no milk, butter or anything else were partaken of, only black tea and dry bread.
    On Michaelmas day, the Michaelmas goose is eaten.
    On Martinmas Eve the blood of a fowl is sprinkled outside the door.
    The Wren boys travel from house to house on St. Stephen's day singing: “the wren the wren the king of all birds
    St. Stephen’s day he was caught in the furze
    So up with the kettle and down with the pan
    For [?] he gone to bury the wren.”
    The wren bush is gaily decorated with ribbon with sometimes a dead [?] tied to it’s top branch. The money gathered is divided between them or kept and used for a dance later on.
    Chalk sunday, first sunday in lent. Unmarried people are marked with chalk on the back by jokers.
    On St. Bridget's day crosses are made and worn, these are made from rushes.
    May 2nd is called [?] night. People sprinkle easter made ash by corners of their farm to keep away evil
    On November night. The dead are supposed to walk abroad.
