- Archaeological 53.In the field opposite Tobar an Bhóthair (the well on the road owned by James Slattery, are a couple of slight conical mounds. These are probably pre-historic burial mounds of children. They are very slight, but similar mounds can be seen in the West of Ireland and in a similar marshy situation. They probably are of Bronze Age date.A longer Bronze Age mound is at darcy's Cross on the west side and in the angle between the Cashel road and the road to the Old Church, to the south of the latter road.Yet a larger Bronze Age mound is on the east side of the Cashel road opposite Rosegreen Church. A still larger one of these mounds is in Lyonstown, a little north of Rosegreen Church. This may have been used as a Norman Mote. There is a great rectangular Norman earthwork on the land of the late Denis O'Donnell at Maginstown. There is a similar, but smaller work at Rathcronan on Mrs. Russell's land, a fort of the Walenses or Walshes. There are earthworks in James O'Keefe's avenue field at Ballycurrane. This townsland seems at one time - rather strangely - to have been attached to Lisronagh Manor. It is in Newchapel Parish.
