  1. Songs Composed about Places Around my District (continued)

The Barrel Rocks:- Come all you jolly mariners give ear into my song,

    (continued from previous page)
    May discontent soon disappear
And as true as my name is John
    I will stay at home
    In my dear island home
    And die like an Irishman
    Lonely Banna Strand.
It was on a Good Friday morning
At the early dawn of day
    A German ship was signalling
    Far out upon the Bay
    With thirty thousand rifles
    Just ready for to land
But they could get no return signal
    From Lonely Banna Strand
A motor car came dashing fast
    The early morning bloom.
A sudden dash and down a cliff
It fell to meet its doom
    Two Irish boys lay dying
Just like a rose so grand
But they could not give the signal
    From lonely Banna Strand.
