  1. The magpie is a very common bird in this district. She is of a black and white colour. She build her nest in an ivy tree. It is built with sticks and is shaped like a ball. She usually lays four eggs. She lives on oats, slugs, and heneggs. The colour of her eggs are green She builds her nest in the summer. It is an old belief that if you see a magpie it is for sorrow, two is for joy, three is for a wedding, four is for a boy, five is for silver, six is for gold, and seven is for a secret not to be told.
