- Holy Wells. In the downland of Stragella, in a field belonging to Mrs. Tully, there is a well called St. Brigid's well. The field in which it is situated, is called Brigid's field. The water of this well is perfectly clean, and even on the hottest day in summer the water is as cold as ice. People visit it to cure warts and corns. Three Hail Marys are said when warts are to be cured' then the warts are washed in the water three times. Corns are washed twelve times and this little prayer is said, In the name of the Father, Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
