- If the feet are washed in potato water it is said to cure them. There was a tannery yard, where they made leather in Pearse St. Cavan.
- About fifty years ago there lived in Stragella, a man called Gaffney, who used to make cobble boots. His residence was at the back of the house of Mr. Patrick Mchuh, but there are no remains of it now.
