  1. The old people of this district, often tell stories of the penal days, and of the priest hunters. One old man, named Luke Fitzsimmons, pointed out to me a place where Mass was often celebrated, in those days. It is in a very lonely place, in a valley surrounded by hills in the town land of Araghan. He also pointed out in the same place, where there had been a little chapel, built of mud.
