- About fifty years ago there lived in the townland of Stragella a man named Bernard Smith better known as Barney Loughlin. He was a clogmaker by trade.
He lived in a little thatched house beside Drumcrave school. The house belongs to Mr Mick Lee Behey.
Long ago there was a class of shoe made and worn in the district known as a "thong." It was made out of untanned hide. - The poplar tree always shakes because the wood of the cross was cut out of it.
