The first Monday of the New Year is called "Hansel Monday." On this day you should give away nothing and take all you get. Shrove Tuesday is also called "Pancake Night." On this night pancakes are made containing a ring, and whoever gets the ring will be married first.
On Ash Wednesday ash bags are tied to people.
Fool's Day or 1st April is a day of great fun. People make fools of each other on this day.
On Good Friday no nail should be driven because it is imitating the Jews.
On May Eve a May bush is dressed in honour of Blessed Virgin Mary.
On this Sunday you should not go near water because you would get drowned.
Saint Swithin's Day. If it rains on this day it will rain for forty nights.
Saint Martin's Day. On St. Martin's Day no mill wheel should turn because St. Martin was ground.
