- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Mr. Furlong a good 'nailer' made three nails in one beat.Davy Ormond Blackwater (about 80 years) made nails also in his youth.
SPINNING AND WEAVINGMr Furlong remembers going to Cipín mill, when a young boy, with his aunt Peggy Stafford, to get wool carded. He tells me there was another mill at the "Tucker's Hollow" Ballyvaloo. There was also a mill for grinding corn at Cipín owned by John Lacy's father of Crosshue. John Lacy is now about 75 years old. In connection with above heading Mrs. O'Sullivan N.T. Ballyvaldon was presented recently with some table and bed linen over 100 years old, manufactured in the locality. Then at Pat Barker's Ballinadrissogue (?) there is still to be seen a specimen of old linen yarn. It resembles first-crop hay well saved.A Mr. Aiden Parker's house in the same townland specimens of home made linen can still be seen.- Faisnéiseoir
