Marriages mostly take place before Shrove Tuesday. Many is considered an unlucky month for marriages. Thursday and Saturday are said to be unlucky days on which to get married. Pancakes are made in every house and rings put in them on Shrove Tuesday. Money and goods are given as dowry in some parts where the people are sick.
