- My Home District
Kishikirk is the name of my townland. Old people said it got its’ name from a man who made kishes, that is large baskets to bring home turf from the bog. My parish is Boher in the barony of Clanwilliam.
There are eleven families in the townland and about forty people, two families in the district of Fitzgerald and now only one Collopy but, there were four in former days.
All the houses are slated, but were thatched formerly.
There is only one old man, Michael Fitzgerald. He does not know any Irish and I don’t think he tells any stories of the place.
My grandfather was the fourth generation of the Fitzgeralds. If my grandfather lived until now he would be 110 years of old and he remembered his own father living here.
