    given for a calf and a half a crown is given for a cow. It is called luck money. When the bargain is made the parties show their agreement by striking hands. The animals are marked with raddle for fear anyone else would buy the animals. The halter or rope is sometimes given away and sometimes returned. One of the greatest fairs in Kanturk is the twenty ninth of September. The greatest fair held in Millstreet is on the first of March. There are special fairs held for bonhams and horses.
