  1. Old Schools
There was a hedge - school in the townland of Goblacain in formere times where the creamery now stands. It was taught by a man named Daniel Murpy. There was about a hundred children going there. The subjects taught were Arithmetic writing and reading. They had no books only one book for the whole class. The master used to sleep around the farmers house. All the scholars should bring a penny every day to pay the master.
