Half-Door[?] are common in this district but they were more common formerly they were used for keeping in children and a place for gossiping. The fires long ago were made of wood and turf but it is mostly coal nowadays. The lights long ago were rush lights, dip candles, and splinters. They had no candles or lamps long ago. A man used always take splinters inside his hat and would go into a house and he would take it out and light it with the fire and light the pipe.

2. Meals

   People used to have three meals a day. Breakfast, Dinner, Supper. People did a lot of work in the morning before they eat their breakfast.

   Each meal consisted mostly of potatoes. The table was mostly up against the wall, and when they would want it they would let it down. Bread was made of yellow meal and of rye. There was also bread
