"A Mháire look at the big bite Daid Mór takes! There wont be anything left for me."
Just then a thrush sang "Duirig Duirig!"
"Ah" said Cáit, "he is telling me I am too small and I will go in." She told her father what the thrush said to her. "He said 'Duirig, duirig!' and that means that I am too small"
Just then the land lord walked in.
"Bacon by Jove" he said, "and as good as I have in my own kitchen. John, if you can have bacon, you can afford to pay three pounds more rent."
When the landlord went out, Cait Bheag got a fine beating. Whenever she would hear the thrush singing "Duirig" she would hunt him away, as far as she could. He always reminded her of her trouble.- Informant
