    then go up and look in the door wondering would there be anything left for herself.
    "A Mháire look at the big bite Daid Mór takes! There wont be anything left for me."
    Just then a thrush sang "Duirig Duirig!"
    "Ah" said Cáit, "he is telling me I am too small and I will go in." She told her father what the thrush said to her. "He said 'Duirig, duirig!' and that means that I am too small"
    Just then the land lord walked in.
    "Bacon by Jove" he said, "and as good as I have in my own kitchen. John, if you can have bacon, you can afford to pay three pounds more rent."
    When the landlord went out, Cait Bheag got a fine beating. Whenever she would hear the thrush singing "Duirig" she would hunt him away, as far as she could. He always reminded her of her trouble.
