- Every district in Ireland has names of fields, most of them have Irish names. There is a field in Con Moynihan's ground of Rathravane Ballydehob, Co Cork, a townland of about one mile from the town of Ballydehob, which is called the "Poontaloon".
At one corner there are steps leading down to a passage inderneath. This passage is going under the field, and leads to the fort which is only a couple of fields away from the field mentioned. Danes are supposed to have lived under this field in a big room. No one ever went down these steps for they have a superstition that it they did they would never come out alive.
If a stone is thrown down the steps a big empty noise is heard, which lead people to think that there must be a passage under it. Stones are put at the entrance of this hole to keep out cows, or calves.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
