“There is a fort near the village of Kilmacowen.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Eóghain and Beara. MacEóghain knew the enemy were coming and he built this fort and also made a lios near Banárd. They lived in this lios for a short time. The enemy came in at Kenmare Bay, and marched southwards until they reached the residence of MacEóghain. The man and his wife saw them coming, and they both ran towards Maulin. Beara was shot after a short run. She was taken to the Cilíneach, and was buried there. A cross is still to be seen standing over her grave. Mac Eóghain ran as fast as he could, and after a long pursuit, he was shot near Malin. The soldiers buried him there, but his grave is not to be seen.- Bailitheoir
