  1. Over a hundred years ago there lived a man named James Quinn (Jimmie Reabhóg) who was a highway robber. This man roamed through the country robbing every one that came in his path. The police got on his track but could never catch him as he was supposed to have wings on his heart and could run much faster than a hare.
One day the police came quite near to him in a field in Westmeath but Jimmie Riabhóg ran and we are told that he never stopped till he came to a river which runs quite near this school. Jimmie jumped the river and then rested on the other side. He buried the gold on Ballyformoyle mountain and he told the people around that they would get a pot of gold in a spot from which you could see three of the oldest chimneys in Keadue.
Jimmie was captured in a field asleep and was taken to Sligo Prison and hanged. The body was quartered and placed on the prison gates for the wild birds.
Some years after people named Simons got the gold on Ballyformoyle mountain and they started a loan office.
