  1. An Original Song

O'night and day Im dreaming of a shot far oer the sea.

O' night and day I'm dreaming of a spot far oer the sea.
Of all the places on this earth it is most dear to me.
It is the place where I was born many years ago.
In a little cot by the Shonnon's banks where the gentle waters flow.
    2
Tis in Roscommon County, Drumboylan is the name.
With its ancient school and little church and long and winding lane.
Its towering hills and meadows green and white washed homes so grand.
The place loved best lies in the West of dear old Ireland.
    3
Tho' far away from there to day I recall my boyhood years.
And things that I remember almost move my eyes to tears.
When I think of the happy days I spent in the pleasant years of yore.
As Mother's boy her pride and joy I roamed on Shannon's shore.
    4
I've travelled on the Universe and seen some places grand
But none I see can e'er compare with my beloved land
Where St Patrick trod by the wish of God and spread the faith all oer
That famed townland where my life began on Shannon's lovely shore.
    5
And now that I have money and my wandering days are spent
I'll go back again to my native place and live my life content
And happy I'll be when things I see I loved so long ago
In Drumboylan by the Shannon where the gentle water flow.
